Big Bang – Sommet de la création

Let yourself be carried away by the spirited Orchestre de l’Agora, which will perform the world premiere of creations by four incomparable up-and-coming composers from Quebec. In collaboration with Le Vivier and under the direction of Nicolas Ellis, the Orchestre de l’Agora allowed the four creators to explore the ideas that preoccupy and stimulate them today.
Francis Battah suggests Trois paysages, a piece at the confluence of different musical philosophies.  Alexandre David’s Photogrammes offers a reflection on aesthetics through the orchestration of an electroacoustic work inspired by Pop, Rock and Electro. Symon Henryopens and closes drawers like happy memories or wounds revisited in Tiroirs bonbons pastel,  a piece for DJ and orchestra, with soloist Gabriel Ledoux (DJ). In Les carnets de l’exil, Laurence Jobidon explores the theme of exile in our life and contemporary society. In addition to the program, Orchestre de l’Agora will also perform Igor Stravinsky’s Dumbarton Oaks.

The origin of Big Bang : meeting with the composers
with Alexandre David, Francis Battah, Laurence Jobidon, moderation by Nicolas Ellis

A pre-concert discussion that will shed light on the process of creating a work for orchestra and allow for an exchange with composers Alexandre David, Francis Battah and Laurence Jobidon about the compositional intent that led to the creation of their piece for the Orchestre de l’Agora. Nicolas Ellis (conductor) will moderate the discussion, which will address the challenges and benefits of collaborating with artists who write specifically for an ensemble. He will also discuss the rehearsal process, exchanges with the performers and the development of a concert program that highlights contemporary creation.
