Folk and Classical Interwoven

From Brahms’ beloved Hungarian Dances to Bartók’s Rhapsodies, classical composers have always had a fascination with folk music. Others are original compositions that recall certain folk music techniques, like Inuit throat singing in Marcus Goddard’s Allaqi

Phantoms

The flute, harp & double-bass join our String Quartet in a program of quintets filled with unique colours and textures. The images each piece prokes is one of mystery, illusions and phantoms. The program culminates with a staple of the chamber music repertoire, Antonin Dvořák’s String Quintet no.2 in G major, op.77 (B.48). Dvořák’s work were heavily influenced by folk music.
