Music has been at the forefront of Jean-Frédéric Caron’s life from a very early age. He began taking lessons on the violin at seven, and throughout his academic career, from elementary school to university studies leading to a bachelor’s degree in Communications at Université du Québec à Montréal, music has always been essential. Indeed, promoting culture, art, and classical music in today’s world is Jean-Frédéric’s true calling.
His passion for music led him to perform in orchestral tours in Germany, Belgium and China. He took part in masterclasses with the internationally renowned pedagogue Michael Frischenschlager, at Orford Musique, and in Austria at the Mozarteum in Salzburg. These varied musical experiences have enabled him to create a network of contacts in the music world that extends throughout Quebec, Canada, Europe, and the United States.
Music has also guided his career path to incorporate marketing, communications and cultural management. For two years, Jean-Frédéric served on the Conseil d’administration (Board of Directors) of the Orchestre des musiciens de Montréal (OPMEM), as Director of Marketing and Communications. Before that time, he had been an artists’ manager for classical musicians as well as a concert producer.
Jean-Frédéric took on the responsibilities of Director of Marketing and Communications of the Orchestre symphonique de Laval for a period of six years. In that capacity, among other achievements he contributed to the development of a new series of highly popular concerts (Bébé Musique), enhanced the Orchestra’s visibility by exponentially growing its presence on social media and in the regular media, and by crafting new strategic partnerships.
Jean-Frédéric is Director General of the Orchestre de l’Agora since June 2019. Fun fact: he took part in the Orchestra’s very first concert during the students’ strike in 2012!
