Alexandra Tibbitts
Production Coordinator
California native, Alexandra Tibbitts is a harpist, researcher and arts organizer. She received her Master’s in Interpretation and an Artist’s Diploma in Orchestral Repertoire at l’Université de Montréal under Caroline Lizotte.
For Ms. Tibbitts, the harp bridges her enamor of classical, contemporary, and electro-acoustic music. In 2018, she was featured by the Montréal new-music organization, Code d’Accès, and has premiered works and dedications in Montréal, San Diego (California), Porto (Portugal) and Mexico City. She is a founding member of Ensemble ILEA (Ensemble d’Improvisation Libre Électro-Acoustique, 2016) and, most recently, the sound and visual art collective _Interf_erences (April 2019).
A member of the Center for Interdisciplinary Research in Music Media and Technology (CIRMMT) since 2016, Ms. Tibbitts is an independent researcher in Expanded Musical Practices. She is co-author of Gestural Control of Augmented Instrumental Performance: A Case Study of the Concert Harp, published in Movement and Computing Proceeds (MOCO; 2018, in Genoa, Italy).
In arts production, Ms. Tibbitts is coordinator and grant writer for the Montréal Contemporary Music Laboratory. In February 2019, she proudly joined l’Orchestre de l’Agora as production coordinator.
